| Let me tell you a little about myself. I've played in many bands over a vast period of time, in different genres ranging from classic, progressive, punk, new wave rock, to blues, southern rock, alternative, heavy metal, to all originals bands etc. I've played the lead guitar in all of the bands I've been in and in many I have done the lead vocals and or backing vocals. As I got a little older, I realized my desire to play more mellow or heavy rock songs on the acoustic guitar accompanied with just my vocals for another 'side-musical project'. The MTV Unplugged shows in the earlier '90's sparked my interest, and I always caught myself having to 'entertain' family and or friends at parties. There would always be someone who would always murmur, "Can't you sing and play a song?" "All that so-called fancy guitar junk you're doing gets 'boring' after awhile." Okay...... so I'd ask them what they'd like to hear. So they would name some tune(s) that I fortunately would know. So I'd play and sing them. Boom! Instant hit! I was sold ever since. I've played many venues doing solo acoustic mostly in Indianapolis and around Indy doing all covers, some all originals (first time was all originals at The only Sports Bar in downtown Indy in '92), but mostly a mixture of both (depending on the crowd). It's weird going into a club, and looking around at the people in the audience and trying to judge what they'll like to listen to, as some younger people love the older "classic rock" music, and surprisingly older people over 40 wanting to hear the newer stuff. Then it also leans on the ambience of the club and what most of the audience is doing (playing pool, eating or just plain 'pumped'). So adapting and reacting to their response is challenging and a pleasure to win over their 'approval'. Check out the website pages to find out more about my acoustic!- Claude Brissart |
